St. Mark altar servers are an integral part of the Liturgy. Their duties include carrying the cross, candles, and liturgical fans in processions and entrances. They maintain the censer and hand it to the priest or deacon when required. Altar boys must be mature enough to carry out the aforementioned duties without disrupting the sanctity of the altar.
St. Mark handmaidens are also an integral part of the Liturgy. Their duties include cutting of the holy bread that is distributed to the parish following holy communion and at the end of Liturgy. They also serve the holy bread and wine to communicants following communion. Girls must be mature enough to carry out the aforementioned duties without disrupting the communion of the parish.
